Bill O'Brien Press Conference: Noncommittal On Ryan Fitzpatrick As Starter

Did you miss Bill O'Brien's press conference this afternoon? Don't worry. BRB has got you covered.

Bill O’Brien took to the podium today to address the media one last time before the team goes on their bye week, and it was a presser full of classic O’Brien zingers. From joking about social media usage to a funny exchange with John McClain about Kareem Jackson’s possibly fictitious knee injury, this was a presser you’ll want to make time to watch when it becomes available over on the Mothership. Here are a few of the highlights about (probably) the two struggling Texans we care the most about right now – Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jadeveon Clowney.

On thinking about a change at the quarterback position…

"Yeah, we’ve thought about a lot of things – schematically, position changes, things like that. It’s not anything that we’ve come to a decision on at this point. We’re going back in there at 3:30, we’re going to keep talking, keep watching tape, we’re going to meet with the guys tomorrow, we’re going to continue to practice, and try to get better at the things we need to get better at. It is what it is right now."

On what impresses him about Ryan Mallett in practice…

"Well, I think he’s a guy that works extremely hard in practice, which is totally different than in the game, but in practice he seems to have good command of what we’re going. He’s come in here with good knowledge of the offense. He’s been in this system for a while now and he knows the system and he’s worked extremely hard in practice."

On Jadeveon Clowney’s alleged Instagram use during yesterday’s game…

"Yeah, he and I…like we tweeted back and forth last night. I went on Spacebook, he went on Twitter…I mean, I don’t know. This guy wants to play football. He’s trying to get better to get back on the field.

I’m not going down this Twitter road. I don’t even know what that is really, to be honest with you. Instagram, my kid was talking to me about it last night, like, "This is what Instagram is, Daddy." I don’t know, we’re moving on from that. We’re moving on."
