By now, all sentient Texans fans know that our 2014 1.1 OLB Jadeveon Clowney has had the "dreaded" microfracture surgery in an effort to repair damage to his knee, meaning he's unavailable until early 2015 (if we're fortunate). Our all-everything WR, Andre Johnson, suffered a concussion against the hated Glitter Kitties last week and is still in concussion protocol, making him almost certainly unavailable for the game, but possibly opening the door to finally see WR DeVier Posey on the field in uniform during a real game in 2014. We haven't seen Posey since the preseason, and didn't get to see much of him then since his Achilles injury, so this gives us a chance to see what we have in him. Officially, Dre is questionable for the game as of Friday, meaning there's a 50/50 chance he plays, but he's still working his way through concussion protocol, which may influence the activation of Posey even if Dre is cleared. I doubt few of my fellow fans are willing to enter a game with the threat of KMart as our number two WR if Dre can't finish a game.
Unfortunately, our best TE--other than J.J. Watt, of course--Garrett Graham, is going to miss another game with an ankle injury, leaving us dependent on the "mighty" C.J. Fiedorowicz (he of the bricklayer's hands), and Ryan Griffin at the position.
Likewise, rookie G Xavier Su'a-Filo has been ruled out for the game with a back injury, as has OLB Whitney Mercilus, who missed the second half of last week's game with a bad back and was unable to practice all week. DE Tim Jamison, who went down in the Jaguars game with a knee injury and was placed on Injured Reserve on Friday, is gone, allowing DE Keith Browner to get called up from the Practice Squad.
Eight Texans are considered Probable (meaning a 75% chance of playing) as of Friday afternoon. T Tyson Clabo (foot) has been on the injury report for a while with a foot ailment of some sort, but participated fully in practice. ILB Brian Cushing is battling knee and ankle knocks, while ILB Akeem Dent (neck), RB Arian Foster (groin), CB Kareem Jackson (knee), CB Johnathan Joseph (knee, achilles), S Danieal Manning (hamstring), and ILB Jeff Tarpinian (knee) are all still receiving treatment on their respective injuries.
The unfortunate people of Hoosierland will take a break from eating corn and attempting to decipher Jim Irsay tweets to watch their beloved Neckbeard and the rest of the Clots play in the "House that Peyton Built." Our loathed rivals lead the AFC South and seemingly manage to win despite fielding a roster that is at least 75% JAGs. A milder version of the flu than the one that swept the world after the First World War has worked its way through their squad this week, but, as of Friday, only two OL had been ruled out for the game--G Joe Reitz (ankle) and G Hugh Thornton (knee). However, the Clots have fielded corpses summoned from the cemetery along their OL for much of the season and they still lead the division, so that's not going to be enough to push the game either way.
As for the rest of their team, everyone else on their injury list is officially Probable. S Mike Adams (back), S Sergio Brown (illness), CB Darius Butler (illness), CB Vontae Davis (concussion), WR T.Y. Hilton (rest), LB D'Qwell Jackson (ribs), S LaRon Landry (illness), T Xavier Nixon (foot), LB Andy Studebaker (hamstring), LB Erik Walden (knee), and WR Reggie Wayne (rest) are all expected to suit up, even though Wayne has been dealing with a torn triceps for a while now.
