First, Ryan Mallett suffered a season-ending injury. Then, the Texans saw Ryan Fitzpatrick break his leg this afternoon, ending yet another Texans' QB's season.
You know what they say...third time's the charm. Originally the third-string quarterback, then the backup QB after Mallett was lost for the year, and then pressed into service today after Fitzpatrick left the field on a cart, rookie Tom Savage got hurt in the waning moments of the Texans' loss to Indianapolis. Naturally, his availability is murky as well, as John McClain reports Savage will undergo an MRI of his own.
Rookie Tom Savage took over for an injured Ryan Fitzpatrick midgame and the rookie quarterback nearly led the Texans to victory Sunday against the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.
But Savage was hurt near the end of the game, showed a noticeable limp in the locker room and will undergo an MRI.
Savage said after a 17-10 defeat that his health is OK and he plans to play next Sunday against Baltimore.
It didn't look good for Savage in real time, but we'll wait for the results of the MRI before jumping off a bridge to any conclusions. In the meantime, Thad Lewis is preparing for his closeup.
