Going on eight years now, Houston Texans wide receiver, gentle giant and baritone acapella group stand-in Andre Johnson has hosted a Christmas shopping spree for kids currently under the watch of Child Protection Services. For 80 seconds, the kids haul in as many toys as they can get and "Andre Claus" cheerfully foots the bill.
Yesterday morning, the bill came to a whopping $16,266.00. It's money well spent, says Andre:
"I’m pretty sure this is breathtaking for them. I couldn’t imagine this as a child. I always said if I ever made it, if I was blessed to make a lot of money, I always wanted to give back and do things for kids and just help people out. That’s why I do it."
As if we needed another reason to love the big lug. The 11 kids were chosen by Child Protective Services. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to grow up like that, so for Andre to do something like this for them really means a lot. We love you, man.
