At 3 p.m. CDT today, the NFL's free agent signing period officially begins. Although agreements have surely been reached before then, thanks in part to the formal negotiating period that preceded today, expect a flurry of announcements in the way of signings and cuts leading up to and after that 3 p.m. marker.
What does the start of free agency this afternoon mean for your Houston Texans? It could see Matt Schaub being released, Antonio Smith deciding on a new home, Garrett Graham choosing where to spend the next few years, and/or a handful of other players (Owen Daniels? Johnathan Joseph? Danieal Manning?) restructuring existing contracts or finding themselves unemployed. While a bold free agent signing today by the good guys is within the realm of possibility, the Texans' current cap situation would not seem to indicate that any big splashes are on the immediate horizon. It seems more likely that any Texans signings will come in the form of new deals for current players or smaller, value contracts after the market establishes itself a bit more.
In the meantime, share any rumors, reports, news, or what have you in the Comments below. As important Texans gets out, we'll update the site accordingly.
