As they did last week, our friends at Mocking The Draft are once again of the mind that Blake Bortles will be the first name called in the 2014 NFL Draft on May 8th. This week's analysis:
1. Houston Texans - Blake Bortles, QB, UCF
After getting rid of Matt Schaub, the Texans appear ready to draft a quarterback with the No. 1 pick. Teddy Bridgewater is our top-ranked quarterback, but Blake Bortles will give him a run for his money on draft day. Bortles is taller and one could argue he has higher developmental upside. He also has connections to Texans head coach Bill O'Brien.
The second round, however, features a player that Texans fans have discussed before, though I cannot recall seeing him connected to the Texans in a mock draft in quite some time, if ever:
33. Houston Texans - Dee Ford, OLB, Auburn
The Texans could look to add another pass rusher early in the draft. Auburn's Dee Ford may end up making the transition to outside linebacker in the NFL due to his size. He has a shot at the first round and should be a top-40 pick at the least.
How does Dee Ford, outside linebacker for your Houston Texans, strike you?
