Remember this guy? Willie Jefferson was a project pass rusher who received a little playing time in 2013, but was cut on #420gate when he, Sam Montgomery, and Cierre Wood were caught smoking some unnamed substance the night before the Chiefs game. According to the National Football Post, Jefferson was released by the Bills this morning.
The link to the post is here, but I'll save you the click:
The Buffalo Bills are cutting outside linebacker Willie Jefferson, according to a league source.
He was signed to a reserve-future deal during this offseason, but wasn't regarded as a scheme fit for new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. Jefferson is expected to catch on elsewhere.
During the season, he worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jefferson is a 6-foot-5, 241-pounder who was dismissed from the Houston Texans during the regular season for violating team rules along with defensive end Sam Montgomery and running back Cierre Wood
What's more surprising is that this is the first nibble of some type of Texans free agency news, even if it is a bit of a stretch. We should be seeing more crumbs of info like this trickle down the transaction wire over the next few days.
