2014 NFL Mock Draft: With The Tenth Overall Pick Of The 2014 BRB Mock Draft, The Detroit Lions Select...

The first ten picks of the 2014 Battle Red Blog Mock Draft are now officially done. Who did the Lions take to round out the top ten?

The Detroit Lions, via UTBawse23, have made their pick. Here's who it is and an explanation for the pick:

With the tenth pick in the 2014 BRB Mock Draft, the Detroit Lions select Mike Evans (WR--Texas A&M).

Initially, I wanted to go LB here, as new Lions HC Jim Caldwell has made it known he thinks the Lions could use an outside pass rusher in the LB corps. However, with Khalil Mack and Anthony Barr off the board, I decided to go offense.

I picked Evans because I believe even after their offseason signing of Golden Tate, the the Lions in my opinion still don't have a legit #2 receiver. With All-World WR Calvin Johnson on the other side taking up most of the defense's attention, Evans could slide in and give the Lions a deadly 1-2 punch. I could see this tandem working in the same manner as the rival Bears WR duo of Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall. Two big, physical receivers who give CBs hell for 4 quarters.

Also, on a sidenote, Megatron has been dealing with knee issues for the last couple of seasons. So drafting Evans gives the Lions a target in the mold of CJ just in case he goes down with an injury. The only question now is does Evans get a Transformers nickname as well? Starscream.....or is it Soundwave? I don't know what Michael Bay is doing anymore.

I find the thought of a wide receiving tandem of Calvin Johnson and Mike Evans to be positively terrifying. What's your take on Evans relocating from College Station to Detroit? Share your feelings in the Comments below.

BostonianToro and the Tennessee Titans are now on the clock. As that selection won't be published until Monday at 10 a.m., the pick is due to me by 7 p.m. CDT on Sunday evening.
