2014 NFL Draft: Texans Take Clowney, All Eyes On Derek Carr

The Texans started the night by taking South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. Houston ended their night by going to bed with visions of Derek Carr staring them right in the face.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

As we covered and opined on, your Houston Texans selected South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney with the first overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. The once-in-a-generation athletic talent will team with former NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt to give Houston one of the NFL's most dominant defensive line duos.

Now, the eyes of Houston fans turn towards Friday night. The Minnesota Vikings traded up ahead of Houston to grab Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, marking the third quarterback off the draft in round one. This pick has left Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr as the top draft prospect and quarterback on many draft boards.

Yes, you read this correctly. The Texans need a quarterback and the younger brother of former first round pick David Carr is looking right at the Houston Texans as the best available player and quarterback. Prepare for a fun ride until tomorrow night folks. Derek Carr to Houston to redeem the Carr family name has a nice ring to it. For the record, I think he's a good prospect.
