No, that's not déjà vu you're feeling, friends. While the breathless tweets out of Denver today sound awfully familiar to a story you heard earlier this month about Jadeveon Clowney, this is new(s). Down the rabbit hole we go!
Jadeveon Clowney just went to Houston medical tent during 9-on-7 drills. He was walking OK, but looked uncomfortable.— Lindsay Jones (@bylindsayhjones) August 20, 2014
They've taken Clowney's shoulder pads off in the medical tent #texans— Lindsay Jones (@bylindsayhjones) August 20, 2014
Those reports formed the basis for this story, which provides some perspective on Clowney's situation. In other words, don't go getting your affairs in order just yet.
Trainers removed Clowney's shoulder pads, and he pointed at the left side of his neck as he sat on a training table. Clowney remained in the tent for the remainder of practice but did not actively receive treatment from the medical staff, a sign that whatever ailment sidelined him might not be too serious.
But wait! They're hiding Clowney from the media!
Clowney was quickly ushered onto a bus immediately after practice ended and was not made available for interviews.
And Bill O'Brien's acting cagey! He must be hiding something!
Bill O'Brien, in classic Belichickian fashion, says he doesn't know what's wrong with Clowney or how it happened. #texans— Lindsay Jones (@bylindsayhjones) August 20, 2014
Bill O’Brien was asked about Jadeveon Clowney leaving practice early. Said he doesn’t know yet, was on the other field when it happened.— James Palmer (@JPalmerCSN) August 20, 2014
So either it's a relatively minor injury that we shouldn't freak out about in the absence of additional information, or the Texans have initiated a high-level conspiracy to conceal the true severity of Jadeveon Clowney's injury.
You choose which side you're on.
