I believe Ian Rapoport had the news first this morning:
#Texans RB Arian Foster (hamstring) is viewed as a longshot to play today vs. #Giants, sources says. Could mean a lot of Alfred Blue & co
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 21, 2014
The Chronicle's John McClain provided further details:
Arian Foster is a game time decision cause of hamstring injury. He will work out before game before Texans make a decision.

From the perspective of a Texans fan, this is disheartening news. Arian Foster has been the fulcrum of Houston's offense this season, and his absence from the lineup today would likely bode poorly for the Texans. That's not to say that the Texans are screwed if Foster can't go, but to think that the offense will operate without missing Foster's extraordinary vision and versatility is foolish.
From the perspective of fantasy football owners with Foster on their team, go get Alfred Blue off the waiver wire if you can. As our Ryan Dunsmore wrote, it's Blue, not Jonathan Grimes, who should get the majority of Foster's carries. Grimes will surely get some work, but Blue should be the primary option in Houston's running attack today if Foster can't go.
The Texans' official inactive list for today's game against the Giants will be released at 10:30 a.m. CDT, so make sure to check BRB shortly after that to see whether Foster is in fact out today.
UPDATE: Arian Foster has officially been declared inactive for today's game. It's Alfred Blue's world now.
