Will The Houston Texans Cut Ryan Mallett Today?

Against all odds, the Houston Texans continue to employ their backup quarterback. Will today be the day it ends? Texans fans vote and discuss on Battle Red Blog.

Difficult as it may be to temper the disgust Bill O'Brien would naturally feel when Ryan Mallett missed the team's flight to Houston on Saturday, assuming the Texans could not have promoted or signed a quarterback in time to suit up against the Dolphins last Sunday, you can understand why Rick Smith would think cutting Mallett without another QB on the roster behind Brian Hoyer was a bad idea. That doesn't mean, however, that Mallett should have still been on the team once the debacle that was Texans-Dolphins ended.

And yet, as I type this, as far as we know, Ryan Mallett is still a member of the Houston Texans, and Bill O'Brien's sermons about accountability become more and more difficult to take seriously with each passing minute. It stands to reason that the other 52 Houston Texans are watching this unfold in amazement. Even if you thought cooler heads should have prevailed and that O'Brien should not have been allowed to face the Dolphins with only one quarterback, it would seem that allowing Ryan Mallett to remain gainfully employed in Houston only serves to undermine the culture that Bill O'Brien has tried to install.

So, with all that said, I ask you: Will today be the day? Will the Houston Texans cut Ryan Mallett today? Or will this saga continue past Tuesday? Vote in the poll and discuss your thoughts on the matter in the Comments.
