Countdown To Kickoff: Texans vs. Saints

New, comments

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here together this morning on our home away from home, BRB, to hope that today's game against the Saints doesn't descend into madness. Join with me as we sing our hymn, "It's Football Time in Houston."

How about Watt does this when it counts?

Fresh off three straight wins, the Texans are welcoming the Saints today and hoping the media had its narrative lust satiated by the mess during the preseason. I have my doubts, because they'll never miss a chance to hammer someone over the head with something, but I'll watch today anyhow (with my trusty remote ready to mute any and everything).

This game pits Drew Brees (who needs no explanation) against J.J. Watt, Brian Cushing, Benardrick McKinney, Kevin Johnson, Jadeveon Clowney, Vince Wilfork, and Eddie Pleasant (yeah, he's earned some positive recognition). It also pits Brian Hoyer against the Nawlins defense, sans the unkempt Ryan brother. Hmmm.

In honor of facing Nawlins (and my Creole heritage), I shall be enjoying some dirty rice during today's game. To honor the fact that I'm one of the lucky ones who is a native Texan, I'll be enjoying some turkey tacos, too. What about y'all? How are y'all going to celebrate?  Eating some turkey and pumpkin pie, hanging the Christmas lights (I'm choosing to believe that there is no one on BRB who keeps them up all year 'round), finishing Black Friday shopping, and now trying to desperately fit back into your work clothes before Monday morning? What are y'all incorporating into your feverish diet and exercise routine? What do you expect to see today (other than multiple Katrina references, since our livers couldn't handle a drinking game based upon that)?

This is your Countdown thread where you're free to discuss your happenings until the 1Q thread opens up at 11:45 a.m. Enjoy!
