Texans-Saints Final Score: Everything Is Working As Texans Win Fourth Straight

All the preseason expectations of a dominant defense backed up by a grinding, efficient offense have finally come true...it just took a 1-4 start to get there.

Behind another stellar performance by J.J. Watt (2 sacks, 6 QB hits, 1 cat rescued from tree), the defense blanketed Drew Brees (24-44, 228 yards, 1 INT) and a high-powered Saints offense, breaking Brees' 40-something streak of games with at least one touchdown.

Romeo Crennel has always been known for fielding bend-not-break defenses in his long career, but this Texans squad isn't even bending, yielding just 268 offensive yards and 3 of 12 conversions on third down.

Over the past four games, the Texans have allowed just 35 points, with nearly half of those scored by the Jets. Yardage wise, they allowed 211, 256 and 267 offensive yards before today.

Offensively, the Texans finally enjoyed more success on the ground, with Alfred Blue and rookie Akeem Hunt running well. George Godsey peppered in a few wildcat runs too, with Cecil Shorts III and Jonathan Grimes contributing. Collectively, they finished with 167 yards at a 4.4 YPC clip, helping them dominate time of possession.

Brian Hoyer, returning from a week off to recover from a concussion, managed the rest handily, going 21-27 for 205 yards, two scores and one interception. Nothing too flashy, but exactly what the Texans' brass was hoping for when they signed him last March.

By golly, the Texans are 6-5, and it doesn't feel quite real yet. Unfortunately, the Colts won again, keeping pace with the Texans for first place in the AFC South. Who knew that Matt Hasselbeck was the best Colts quarterback all along?
