The Houston Texans unexpectedly found themselves without their starting right guard shortly before the Bills game last week. Whatever took Brandon Brooks out of commission was serious enough that it caused him to miss the team's flight back to Houston on Sunday and had his status for Sunday Night Football up in the air as of two days ago. Fortunately for the Texans, things are trending in the right direction, as Brooks returned to the practice field today and looked solid doing it.
"He did a good job," head coach Bill O'Brien said of Brooks on Wednesday. "He was out there. He looked fine."
O'Brien said he thinks Brooks was suffering from a "24-hour bug".
I thought Oday Aboushi did yeoman work in Brooks' stead in Buffalo, but there's no denying that Brooks makes Houston's offensive line significantly better. Against a New England defense that you have to believe will have something special cooked up, Brooks' presence will be a sight for sore eyes.
