2015 NFL Mock Draft: With The Thirteenth Pick, The New Orleans Saints Select...

With the 13th pick of the 2015 BRB Mock Draft, the New Orleans Saints select Trae Waynes (CB--Michigan State).

Initially, I was going to go LB here, but since the top ranked LBs are all off the board, I decided to address another area of the D. The Saints were ranked next to last in total yards last year, including 25th against the pass. While they tried to address it this offseason by signing former Seahawks CB Brandon Browner and former Jets CB Kyle Wilson, I still believe they could use an infusion of talent and youth. Enter Trae Waynes.

The redshirt junior displayed the speed needed to stay with top receivers in the NFL with a blazing 4.31 40 at the combine. Add that to his height (6'0") and his cover skills (especially in man-to-man), and Rob Ryan has the prototype CB to run his 3-4 scheme. In a division that includes Julio Jones, Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, and Kelvin Benjamin among others, the Saints will need a player they can trust and build around on the back end. Waynes has all the tools to become a future All-Pro and a leader in the Saints' secondary.

The New Orleans Saints won their lone Super Bowl, in part, thanks to Tracy Porter's late-game pick six of Peyton Manning. That year they had one of the most ballhawky-est secondaries in league history, which fit in well with Drew Brees' high-scoring offense. Teams would have to air to out to keep up.
