2015 NFL Mock Draft: With The Seventeenth Pick, The San Diego Chargers Select...

We're halfway through our community mock draft as we travel west to San Diego for the 17th pick.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans' blogosphere was shaken to the core at the reveal of our choice for the the 16th pick in the draft. Find some normalcy after the chaos and check out traviscogg's pick for the San Diego Chargers:

With the 17th pick of the 2015 BRB Mock Draft, the San Diego Chargers select Owamagbe Odighizuwa (DE/OLB -- UCLA).

The mock drafters believe running back is a strong possibility in round one, and an argument certainly can be made for the Chargers to take Todd Gurley or Melvin Gordon here. The city already has a surplus of pro athletes named Melvin and, given the position depth this year and downward trending RB ADP, the Chargers could easily upgrade their backfield with the 48th or 83rd pick. San Diego also receives a fair amount of buzz regarding Marcus Mariota while Philip Rivers’ twilight is fast approaching.

Another opportunity for improvement is pass rush. The Chargers have yet to address this in the offseason other than picking up Melvin Ingram's option. Owamagbe Odighizuwa (a.k.a CTRL+V) is the next best available pass rusher and has drawn comparisons ranging from Sam Acho to Brian Orakpo. Impressive workouts have gained the attention of at least the Cowboys and Saints as he continues ascending draft boards.

The run on DEs and OLBs (and UCLA alumni) continue with this selection. Like the picker suggests, Rivers seems to be on the way out of San Diego while his team flirts with Mariota, leading me to believe that Mariota will indeed be the pick here if available. They could also hold the pick hostage for the Eagles to covet for a while too.

Still, his pick is Odighizuwa, so you can learn more about him here. Also, here's what Rob Rang of NFL Draft Scout has on him:

There may not be a more imposing physical specimen than the 6-3, 267 former Bruin, who enjoyed a spectacular combine performance, demonstrating explosiveness in the 40-yard dash (4.62) and vertical jump (39"), as well as agility in the shuttle drills (7.36 in the 3-cone). Odighizuwa comes with medical questions, however, as he'd undergone surgeries on both hips. - Rob Rang

Is the former UCLA Bruin a good choice for the Chargers, who might be soon moving to LA anyway? Big thanks to traviscogg for making the pick; we hope to see you contribute to the community more often (only two total comments!). Zach_The_Gamecock and the Kansas City Chiefs are up next.
