With the 18th pick of the 2015 BRB Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Cedric Ogbuehi (OT--Texas A&M).
We see time and time again that at tackle, it doesn't matter how bad your technique is if you have the plus athleticism to play on the edge. Lance Zierlein has tweeted that Ogbuehi isn't getting out of the first round despite an ACL injury and a poor season by his standards in 2014. While I think preferring Jake Fisher of Oregon to Ogbuehi is my natural lean, I expect Ogbuehi to actually be selected ahead of him.
And for Kansas City, they are in desperation mode on the offensive line. First overall pick Eric Fisher has played like a bust, Rodney Hudson fled to the Raiders in free agency, and there are essentially zero starters of note beyond Ben Grubbs, who played so terribly last season that the Saints didn't even give a second thought to dealing him.
The needs and the talent match, though I think KC shouldn't expect instant results.
Offensive line makes all kinds of sense for the Chiefs here, and there was a time (mostly before the 2014 season, but still) that many analysts projected Ogbuehi as a top ten pick. Although some of the bloom is off his rose now, it's easy to imagine a coaching staff falling in love with his 2013 tape and athleticism. Your thoughts?
