2015 NFL Mock Draft: With The 31st Pick, The New Orleans Saints Select...

Wins were neither big nor easy in New Orleans in 2014. How will the Saints attempt to fix that in 2015?

As rumors swirl that UTBawse23 is actually a member of the 2003 Minnesota Vikings' front office, the New Orleans Saints manage to deliver the final pick of the 2015 Battle Red Blog Mock Draft despite having the 31st overall pick. That, my friends, is historic. Let the magnitude of the moment wash over you, and then read who's heading to New Orleans.

With the 31st pick in the 2015 BRB Mock Draft, the New Orleans Saints select Maxx Williams (TE--Minnesota).

Although his college stats aren't jaw dropping (61 catches, 986 yards, 16.2 YPC, and and 13 scores in two seasons), you have to keep in mind Minnesota is a run-heavy offense that ran through RB David Cobb. In fact, the Gophers only threw for 12 touchdowns in 2014; Williams caught 2/3 of them. Also, Williams had more than twice as many receptions at 36 than the second highest pass catcher on the team, who had 16.

How he fits:

New Orleans traded away their All-Pro TE Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks in the offseason for offensive line help. Looking at the roster, there isn't an immediate replacement for him. Williams could come in and earn that starting spot. Despite his low catch total, Williams led all TEs in CFB last year in receptions over 25 yards with 9. He doesn't have burning speed(4.78 in the 40), but 82% of his catches at Minnesota went for either first downs or touchdowns. The Saints need to continue to add offensive weapons after shipping off Graham and Kenny Stills. Sean Payton can use Maxx the same way he used Jimmy. Put him in mismatches against LBs and DBs and let him eat up yardage.

That brings the 2015 BRB Mock Draft to a close. Thank you for your patronage, and let us never speak of this again.
