2015 NFL Mock Draft: With The Third Pick, The Jacksonville Jaguars Select...

AFBuzz and the Jacksonville Jaguars are at the podium as Battle Red Blog's reader mock draft continues...

Against all odds, the Jacksonville Jaguars continue existing as an NFL franchise. As such, they are deserving of a spot in the NFL Draft...and even fake drafts run by rival blogs. Reader AFBuzz has the card in his hand and has selected...

With the third pick in the 2015 BRB Draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select Vic Beasley (OLB--Clemson).

Jacksonville has continuously tried to find that impact pass rusher without great success. Last year BSPN was sure that Khalil Mack (now with the Oakland Raiders), who fit perfectly in Gus Bradley's system at LEO, would be it, and everyone is saying the same about Fowler this year. I chose Beasley because of things Bradley has actually done in his coaching career.

In his last season as a DC in Seattle, Bradley selected Bruce Irvin in the first round. Irvin is a pass rushing specialist only and excels because of Seattle's defensive line. Since taking over in Jacksonville, he has amassed a ton of DL talent. Guys like Jared Odrick, Ziggy Hood, and Sen'Derrick Marks, all of whom are big strong 300 lb. run-stuffers with limited pass rushing ability. Adding someone with the pure pass rushing ability of Beasley to a stout run stuffing line doesn't restrict you as much as some teams. Irvin had his best statistical season with Bradley, so finding someone who fits that mold is a major plus for this team.

I really wanted to choose Leonard Williams here, but with the majority of the defensive talent for the Jaguars on the defensive line I couldn't find a spot where he would make sense. The Jags have plenty of beef up front. Beasley adds a great deal of speed and athleticism to a very good front seven.

Adding a pass-rushing terror to a strong front seven to the Jaguars makes me a little nervous. In today's NFL, you need to be able to pass the ball, protect the quarterback, and sack the other quarterback. The Jaguars would probably feel that they're set on two of those three aspects if they were to take a premium pass rusher with their pick.

If you want to learn more about Beasley, check out Stephen White's article on the kid. White has him as the top edge rusher in the draft.

Another great write up, I must say. Keep it going, folks. HTown5, you're up!. Your pick is due by 12 PM CT today. Happy hunting.
