Fresh-faced and wide-eyed, the rookie class of the Houston Texans is getting its first taste of life in the NFL over the weekened.
ICYMI: #Texans jersey #'s for rookie draft picks... 58 Cliett 95 Covington 38 Hilliard 30 Johnson 55 McKinney 12 Mumphery 11 Strong— Drew Dougherty (@DoughertyDrew) May 5, 2015
Appropriately, news came in today that the team managed to sign all seven of its drafted players before the start of camp. The Chronicle reports:
Signing were cornerback Kevin Johnson (first round), inside linebacker Benardrick McKinney (second), receiver Jaelen Strong (third), receiver Keith Mumphery (fifth), outside linebacker Reshard Cliett (sixth), defensive end Christian Covington (sixth) and running back Kenny Hilliard (seventh).
Johnson’s standard four-year deal is worth $10.049 million fully guaranteed. He gets a signing bonus of $5.5 million.
McKinney’s four-year deal is for $$5.3 million, including $3.2 million guaranteed. His signing bonus is $2.1 million.
Such a feat isn't quite as impressive as it used to be, what with the rookie wage scale and all, but it's nice for us to have that taken care of.
