Houston Texans Sign Brandon Deaderick, Cut Mack Brown...No, Not THAT Mack Brown

The fact that OTAs are going on is no excuse for the Texans taking any sort of rest from signing and releasing players. Learn more about the newest Texan and lament the departure of the other Mack Brown.

Here's a wee nugget off the Houston Texans' transaction wire today for your perusal.

From the linked article, a bit more about the newest Texan:

The 6-foot-4, 297-pound Deaderick played in 60 games (17 starts) from 2010-14 with New England, Jacksonville and New Orleans. He recorded eight tackles in 13 games (two starts) last season with the Saints as a defensive end.

Deaderick was drafted in the seventh round in 2010 out of Alabama by the Patriots.

Of course, in order to make room for Deaderick, someone had to be let go. Texas fans are forgiven for a possible double-take at the identify of the releasee.

Similarly, the following tweet may be predictable, but it still made me chuckle.
