Remember Nick Scurfield? Scurfield worked for the Houston Texans for many years and was responsible for creating a lot of quality content for the fan base. While he's no longer a team employee, he has remained tuned into the organization both on and off the field.
To that end, Nick reminded me that Chester Pitts, drafted by the good guys before their inaugural season and a mainstay on the offensive line from 2002-2008, started a charitable foundation years ago, and that organization has its big fundraiser coming up next week.
2015's "Strike Out for the Arts" will be held at Bowlmor Lanes (located at 925 Bunker Hill here in Houston) next Tuesday (June 30th). In addition to the opportunity to do some good for the kids in our community, Texans fans should know that Duane Brown, Brandon Brooks, Whitney Mercilus, Xavier Su'a-Filo, Brian Cushing, Garrett Graham, Johnathan Joseph and Ben Jones are scheduled to be in attendance, along with various other NFL types. Tickets are far from cheap at $275.00 a pop, but that price apparently includes "bowling, shoe rental, dinner, dessert, signature cocktails, swag bag, door prize ticket, and more."
For more information on the event or the charity itself, check out The Chester Pitts Charitable Foundation's site here.
