The Texans signed Hoyer this offseason to a two-year, $10.5 million contract that includes $4.75 million guaranteed. Hoyer appeared in 14 games for the Browns in 2014, throwing for 3,326 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
Hoyer was in a battle with fellow former Tom Brady backup Ryan Mallett for the Texans' starting QB gig. Hoyer started training camp getting the first team reps and started the first preseason game against the 49ers - going 2-for-4 for 67 yards and a touchdown. Hoyer went 7-for-11 with 52 yards in the team's second preseason game against the Broncos.
Mallett was 10-for-11 for 90 yards against the 49ers, but looked flat against the Broncos, going 5-for-7 for 23 yards in game two.
