Pierre Thomas To Work Out For Texans, Expected To Sign If Healthy

There is no replacing Arian Foster in the Texans offense, but Houston still needs to find another running back to complete their depth chart. Is Pierre Thomas the right choice?

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Lance Zierlein was the first to call Pierre Thomas to the Texans on twitter, and it seems like his hunch has been confirmed by NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

Thomas had been a consistent - though not spectacular - running back in New Orleans for the past eight seasons before his release earlier this year. Though he is not the runner he once was, Thomas can still catch the rock and pass protect well enough to warrant a roster spot as a third down back in the wake of Arian Foster's groin injury. Hell, the man did just catch 77 passes out of the backfield as recent as two seasons ago. Considering how uninspiring the Texans' running back depth chart is behind the now-injured Foster, I cannot blame Houston for trying to find another warm body to fill out the roster.
