Houston Texans Injury News: Ryan Griffin To Miss "Significant" Time; Xavier Su'a-Filo Out Again For Panthers Game

Rubbing salt into the wound after Week One, here is the latest on some Texans' injuries.

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Bill O'Brien had his Monday press conference and, outside of avoiding the question about his starting quarterback situation, O'Brien noted that tight end Ryan Griffin will miss 'significant' time after spraining his MCL against the Chiefs.

Griffin left the game after this play:

The Texans selected Griffin in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of the University of Connecticut. Griffin has appeared in 32 games over the past three seasons with the Texans, catching 30 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns. Griffin had passed Garrett Graham on the Texans' depth chart entering this season.

O'Brien said the Texans haven't made up their mind yet about whether they'll add another tight end to the roster. The Texans do have Eric Tomlinson on the practice squad at the moment, so they could bring him up.

In other injury news, Xavier Su'a-Filo missed the Texans opener with a foot injury. His recovery hasn't sped up enough for O'Brien to expect XSF to play against the Panthers.

Mike Mohamed is still battling through a calf injury. Mohamed told Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle that:

"It's still sore," Mohamed said. "I'm working hard every day. Although I'm not on the field, I'm rehabbing and training hard."

He still expected to be out 2-4 weeks.
