Duane Brown is still recovering from a broken thumb and will miss today's game. As a result, the Texans have moved several players around in an effort to improve an offensive line that struggled greatly in the season opener against the Chiefs last week.
It is being reported that the following position changes will be made to the offensive line for today's game against the Carolina Panthers:
- Chris Clark, who was recently acquired in trade from the Broncos, will start at left tackle.
- Derek Newton, who normally starts at right tackle, is moving over to left guard.
- Jeff Adams is moving to right tackle, which is a much better fit for his talents.
- Ben Jones (center), and Brandon Brooks (right guard) remain in their usual assignments today.
There is no way to quantify the loss of Duane Brown in this offense, but all things considered, this should bring more stability to Houston's offensive line this week when it comes to improving the running game and protecting Ryan Mallett.
With just under two hours to kickoff, how do you feel about these changes?
