Houston Texans Sign Running Back Daryl Richardson To Practice Squad

The Texans add a running back to their practice squad. How will he fit on Houston's depth chart until Arian Foster returns?

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans have added another running back to the team, per multiple reports.

Richardson, an Abilene Christian product, appeared in 24 games with the Rams during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He collected 690 rushing yards on 167 carries.

Richardson was with the Jets this preseason, appearing in three games. In the final game against the Eagles, he carried the ball 22 times for 72 yards and a score. In the end, he was cut and not placed on the Jets' practice squad.

The Texans are in need of help at running back, as Houston has rushed for only 159 yards through two games with Alfred Blue, Chris Polk, and Jonathan Grimes splitting carries, good for a meager 3.6 yards per carry. Richardson can give the Texans another option on till Arian Foster returns. Although Foster returned to practice last week, he is still lsted as day-to-day as he recovers from groin surgery.

UPDATE: Looks like Richardson was signed to the practice squad and not the active roster.
