DeAndre Hopkins
Bill O'Brien offered some injury updates today after practice ended. It sounds more hopeful that DeAndre Hopkins may get through the league's concussion protocol in time for this week's game, as he has not been ruled out just yet!
O'Brien on #Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins: "He's going through the concussion protocol but from what I'm told he's looking pretty good."
— Houston Texans (@HoustonTexans) September 24, 2015
OBrien "He (Hopkins) came in Monday with symptoms of a concussion, so we put him in the protocol. He's going thru the protocol."

O'Brien on injuries: "You can't waste time being frustrated. Nature of the business. Guys get injured." WATCH LIVE: https://t.co/IkEkqwYQsz

It would be fantastic if Hopkins is back in time for the tilt against Tampa Bay on Sunday! But a word of warning from an actual medical doctor:
O'Brien can be optimistic, but Hopkins reported continued symptoms a day after playing. Hard to get through protocol in that instance.

Here are a few other interesting notes from today's post-practice media session:
J.J. Watt at running back?!!
If Grimes can't go vs TB, O'Brien says there are "# of guys that can play back there," not including Prosch. "Watt?" @McClain_on_NFL asks.

O'Brien's asked if he'd put J.J. Watt at RB if necessary. Says "you never know. I think I'd have to check with Mr. McNair." #Texans

Jadeveon Clowney
Coming off microfracture surgery last December, the first overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft has looked VERY good in his first two starts of the 2015 regular season. Could we see the coaches scheme some new wrinkles for him this week against the Buccaneers?
Crennel "Jadeveon has been lifting weights for a year. He couldn't get on the field, so he got a lot stronger in the weight room."
— John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) September 24, 2015
"I think he's gotten stronger as a result of that, and it shows up on the field."-Crennel on Clowney lifting weights for the last yr.
— Drew Dougherty (@DoughertyDrew) September 24, 2015
Crennel on Jadeveon Clowney: "He's still a rookie, basically. He gives good effort, has range. The more he plays, the better he will become"
— Houston Texans (@HoustonTexans) September 24, 2015
Bill O'Brien plans to move Jadeveon Clowney around quite a bit this week, envisions three-man rotation with John Simon, Whitney Mercilus

Ryan Mallett
The head coach offered the following regarding quarterback Ryan Mallett:
OBrien on Mallett "He got into a rhythm in the second half (at Carolina) and played better." OB pointed out it was only Mallett's 3rd start

Well folks, I'd say things are not as great as we had hoped going into the third week of this season, but the latest news isn't as bad as we would have feared after the Texans started the year 0-2 in two "one-score" games. Share your thoughts on the latest news.
GO TEXANS!
