After an entire offseason, training camp, and preseason, we now know which players will comprise the initial 53-man roster of the 2015 Houston Texans. Here it is:
OFFENSE (25):
OL (9) Duane Brown, Xavier Su'a-Filo, Ben Jones, Brandon Brooks, Derek Newton, Jeff Adams, Chris Clark, Kendall Lamm, Greg Mancz
TE (3) Garrett Graham, C.J. Fiedorowicz, Ryan Griffin
WR (6) DeAndre Hopkins, Cecil Shorts, Nate Washington, Jaelen Strong, Keith Mumphery, Keshawn Martin
RB/FB (5) Arian Foster, Alfred Blue, Jonathan Grimes, Chris Polk, Jay Prosch
QB (2) Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett
DEFENSE (25):
DL (5) J.J. Watt, Vince Wilfork, Jared Crick, Jeoffrey Pagan, Christian Covington
LB (9) Brian Cushing, Mike Mohamed, John Simon, Justin Tuggle, Whitney Mercilus, Jadeveon Clowney, Carlos Thompson, Benardrick McKinney, Akeem Dent

S (5) Rahim Moore, Andre Hal, Eddie Pleasant, Lonnie Ballentine, Quintin Demps
SPECIAL TEAMS (3):

PK (1) Randy Bullock
LS (1) Jon Weeks
Of course, to get there, we saw Bill O'Brien & Co. reduce their roster first from 90 players to 75, and then from 75 to 53. Here's the list of the players who the Texans released or placed on Injured Reserve in that second round of cuts/roster moves:
Tom Savage, QB (placed on Injured Reserve)
Chad Slade, G (placed on Injured Reserve)
Charles James II, CB
Kurtis Drummond, S
Lynden Trail, OLB
Fili Moala, DE
Dan Pettinato, DE
Joseph Treadwell, OT
Chandler Worthy, WR
EZ Nwachukwu, WR
James Ferentz, C
Max Bullough, LB
Damaris Johnson, WR
Brandon Deaderick, DE
Kenny Hilliard, RB
Louis Nix III, DT
Matt Feiler, OT
Corey Moore, S
Kourtnei Brown, LB
Tevita Finau, DT
Life in the NFL means that even making the 53-man roster doesn't ensure a player a job; we could still see a few additions and subtractions as other teams release players the Texans could pursue. Additionally, there's still a practice squad to staff; we'll have a separate entry devoted to that.
For now, though...what do you think of this first iteration of the 2015 Houston Texans?
