2016 NFL Draft Prospects By Position: Kickers

New, comments

Good morning, gang. We're deep into mock drafting for 2016, and it's we're taking a look at a second position. This time we're casting a longing glance at kickers.

When the 2015 season ended, the Texans had a kicker, Nick Novak. Some fans believe he's an upgrade over Randy Bullock, while some fans bemoan Novak's distance issues.  Others lament the release of Chris Boswell in favor Bullock before the 2014 season.

As of right now, the Texans don't have a kicker under contract for the 2016 season, so the team is going to have to do something. Exactly what that something might be is up for debate, but we definitely need an idea of what's out there so we're taking a closer look at that position today.

Roberto Aguayo is an underclassman from the Florida State Seminoles, but he's managed to be the top-ranked kicker at Draft Breakdown and CBS. CBS projects him as a day two draft pick, which is significantly higher than we drafted Bullock, but Texans fans know how important having a strong Special Teams unit is to team success.

I'm certain that some BRBers are totally okay with the idea of drafting a kicker (maybe not in the second or third rounds, but okay with drafting one), while others will be opposed to the idea and feel the position can be addressed through UDFA tryouts. What's your position? Discuss below.
