The lust for an honest-to-goodness quarterback prospect is building to a fevered pitch amongst Houston Texans fans. It's a glaring enough need that many a mock draft has the good guys taking a signal-caller with their first round pick. You're also liable to see some mock drafts sending a running back to Houston in the first round based upon the uncertainty surrounding that position on the Texans' roster in 2016.
What you're not seeing much of is the notion that the Texans will take a defensive lineman in the first round. Lest you think it's out of the question, feast your eyes upon Dan Kadar's latest mock.
22. Houston Texans: Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor
This is a bad draw for Houston with all three quarterbacks and Elliott off the board. That leaves a fallback option with Billings, an imposing and strong run stuffer up front.
Other options: Trade down, Elliott
I'm all for drafting the best player available and not reaching for a position, but how would the Texans taking a 20 year old nose tackle at No. 22 strike you? Putting aside the all too easy comparison to Amobi Okoye, could you get behind the team taking a defensive lineman in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft?
