Fantasy Football Waiver Watch: Week Eight

A hefty load of byes and new injuries have left many fantasy owners searching for streaming options for Week Eight.

Washington’s RB situation has been confusing for fantasy owners. Is Thompson the answer?

Week Eight has six teams on bye, including the Dolphins, Steelers, Giants, Ravens, Rams and 49ers. With injuries to top talent at every position, this will be a tough week for fantasy owners. Let’s take a look at the best options available in at least 50% of leagues.

Devontae Booker (RB - DEN): Booker ran all over Houston on Monday night, amassing 83 yards and a TD. The young RB had his best game to date against the Texans and is likely to take a bigger workload going forward. If he’s still on your waiver wire, make sure you grab him.
(ESPN: 33.1% owned, Yahoo: 36% owned)

Dwayne Washington (RB - DET): This is partly selfish hope because I could really use some RB help, but Washington could possibly return this week to face the godawful Houston run defense. With so many teams on a bye, he becomes a legitimate streaming option if he’s ready to go.
(ESPN: 9.4% owned, Yahoo: 9% owned)

Chris Thompson (RB - WAS): Matt Jones has been a fumble machine as of late, and it looks like Washington could be leaning more heavily on Thompson moving forward. Thompson has solid value in standard leagues, but with his regular contributions to the passing game, his real value lies in PPR leagues.
(ESPN: 14.1% owned, Yahoo: 15% owned)

Ty Montgomery (WR/RB - GB): Montgomery is now designated as a WR/RB in fantasy, and his value rests heavily on his contribution to both positions in each game. Montgomery could lose some of his carries at RB down the line if Knile Davis takes over that role, or when James Starks comes back. For now he’s got value in most leagues.
(ESPN: 20.4% owned, Yahoo: 63% owned - Johnson fudges our under 50% rule, but he’s way under in ESPN, so I kept him on the list)

Davante Adams (WR - GB): Adams is coming off a monster week against Chicago, but that 132-yard, two TD performance isn’t all that makes him so valuable. Adams has a touchdown in four of six games this season and has been developing into a key piece of the Packers’ pass attack. He’s worth an add in all formats.
(ESPN: 17.2% owned, Yahoo: 20% owned)

Jack Doyle (TE - IND): In the wake of Dwayne Allen’s injury, Doyle has proved a solid option at the TE position. Over the past two weeks, Allen has been responsible for at least 50 yards and a TD. Doyle is a great plug-in this week, and perhaps even longer.
(ESPN: 18% owned, Yahoo: 33% owned)

This week could be one of the most difficult yet for fantasy owners. Feel free to ask questions, give advice, or make predictions in the comments section below!

May the waiver wire err in your favor this week!
