This week’s Thursday Night football game features two teams in the a fistfight for mediocrity. The Panthers have struggled this season. A defense which was ranked second in DVOA last season now hovers around the league average spot. This is notable, considering the endless slew of talent the Panthers possessed on the defensive side of the ball.

The Saints, on the other hand, have been horrific on the defensive side of the ball. My (and pretty much everyone else’s) rule when it’s come to fantasy this year has been, ‘‘Start whoever is playing against the Saints.’’ That being said, it isn’t all bad for New Orleans. I wrote a few months ago that Michael Thomas could be special, and all the evidence so far this season would support that estimation. As a rookie, Thomas has had a stat line of 51 receptions on 69 targets for 600 yards and 5 TDs. That’s a 73% target-to-reception ratio, which is just nuts.

Either way, I’m hoping for a TD fest tonight. If you want to watch the game for free online, here’s a link to SB Nation’s live stream for Thursday Night Football.
