When Andre Johnson decided to walk away from the game of football a few weeks ago, many Texans fans hoped his career would officially conclude with him retiring as a member of the team that employed him for twelve years. Thanks to Wotan passing along the tweet below, we know ‘Dre wants the same thing the fans do.

Although his career with the Texans did not end in storybook fashion, Andre Johnson was important to this city, and this city was and is clearly important to him. There’s still the minor issue of the Titans relinquishing their rights to ‘Dre to permit a ceremonial signing to take place, but that shouldn’t be much of an impediment. Here’s hoping the Texans sign Andre Johnson to that one-day contract so he can retire as a member of the team that he had such a hand in sustaining over the years. “Andre Johnson Day” won’t be far behind.
