NFL: Detroit Lions at Houston Texans
Enough dirt has been rubbed on his elbow and wrist that, clad in his Robocop armor, he’s ready to go today. Squee!!!!

At this point of the season, NFL teams regularly have half their squad in the trainers’ rooms each week for extra treatment. The Texans and Colts are no different. The Texans got some good news this week, but the news also emerged that Brian Cushing is playing with fractures in his back.

The Texans had already ruled out five players for Sunday’s game after Friday’s practice session. Tyler Ervin (ribs), Braxton Miller (shoulder), Tom Savage (elbow), and John Simon (chest) did not practice and were ruled out. Johnathan Joseph (ribs) also didn’t practice, but he’s officially questionable for the game. Jaelen Strong (ankle) also did not practice, but he was placed on IR.

Jadeveon Clowney (elbow, wrist) and Brian Cushing (back, ankle) were limited in Friday’s practice and are officially questionable (though it has been publicly stated that Clowney will be playing). Kareem Jackson (hamstring) and Lamar Miller (ankle, ribs), were limited, but are expected to play.

Also on the injury report are Christian Covington (thigh), Will Fuller (hip), Benardrick McKinney (thigh), D.J. Reader (shoulder), Xavier Su’a-Filo (finger), and Vince Wilfork (groin), but none of them are expected to miss the game due to injuries (coach’s indifference is another issue altogether).

The Colts have also already ruled out five players based on injuries. Clayton Geathers (neck), Denzelle Good (concussion), Zach Kerr (concussion), Robert Mathis (bicep), and Patrick Robinson (groin) will all miss today’s game and were held out of practice Friday. Darius Butler (hamstring), T.Y. Hilton (back), and Erik Walden (rest), also missed practice but should play.

Andrew Luck’s right shoulder kept him limited in practice, though he’s going to play. Frank Gore (rest), and Curt Maggitt (concussion) both participated fully in Friday’s practice (Gore rested earlier in the week), but Maggitt is officially listed as questionable for the game.

Here’s the final word on who won’t be suiting up today.

Houston Texans Inactives:

  • RB Tyler Ervin (ribs)
  • WR Braxton Miller (shoulder)
  • QB Tom Savage (elbow)
  • OLB John Simon (chest)
  • CB Johnathan Joseph (ribs)
  • DE Ufomba Kamalu (coach’s indifference)
  • OL Josh Walker (coach’s indifference)

Indianapolis Colts Inactives:

  • S Clayton Geathers (neck)
  • T/G Denzelle Good (concussion)
  • DT Zach Kerr (concussion)
  • OLB Robert Mathis (bicep)
  • CB Patrick Robinson (groin)

Are any of these injuries particularly worrying to you? How about Savage’s elbow?
