On Saturday, the Texans sent Jaelen Strong to Injured Reserve and promoted Denzel Rice to the active roster from the practice squad. Yesterday, the team announced that Braxton Miller would join Strong on IR, with Wendall Williams earning a promotion to the 53-man roster to take Miller’s place. That necessarily meant there were two vacancies on Houston’s practice squad, and they were filled today.
The @HoustonTexans signed free agent T Laurence Gibson & WR Tevin Jones to the practice squad. Gibson will wear #64 and Jones will wear #85

Gibson was drafted by the Cowboys in 2015 and spent some time with the Falcons earlier this year. Jones signed with the Texans as an UDFA after the 2016 NFL Draft but did not survive the first round of cuts in training camp. Given the frequency of season-altering or season-ending injuries, both Gibson and Jones would do well to stay limber. The call to join the big club could come at any moment.
