Street Clothes Special: Texans-Jaguars Inactives

So, erm, some Bulls and some Kittens shall matchup on the turf at NRG. But some of them will be resting on the sidelines. Which ones? Find out here.

NFL: Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars
Allen Hurns is out today, but hopefully J-Jo is not.

It’s Week 15 of the 2016 NFL season, and some Texans have spent more time in the training room than on the practice field this season. Five members of the squad failed to participate in Friday’s practice, with four of them already ruled out for today’s game. Jeff Allen (concussion), C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion), Don Jones (illness) and John Simon (chest) will miss the game, while Whitney Mercilus (back) is officially questionable for the game.

Eight Texans were limited in Friday’s practice, though only two of them are officially questionable. Tyler Ervin (ribs) and Johnathan Joseph (ribs) are questionable for the game. Chris Clark (ankle), Jadeveon Clowney (elbow, wrist), Brian Cushing (back, ankle), DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring), Benardrick McKinney (wrist), and Lamar Miller (ankle, ribs), were all limited but are expected to play.

Five squad members were able to fully participate Friday, despite receiving additional treatment during the week for various aches and pains. Kareem Jackson (hamstring), Brock Osweiler (thigh), Tom Savage (right elbow), Antonio Smith (foot), and Xavier Su’a-Filo (finger) should all play.

The Jaguars are a much healthier team right now (in terms of physical ailments—they’re terrible, but they’re healthy). Allen Hurns (hamstring) and Denard Robinson (ankle) are both out for the game and missed Friday’s practice. Myles Jack (illness) and Chris Reed (toe) missed practice but should play.

Shane Wynn (hamstring) was limited in practice and is questionable for today.

Kelvin Beachum (knee), Blake Bortles (right shoulder), Johnathan Cyprien (shoulder), Dante Fowler Jr (shoulder), Chris Ivory (hamstring), Abry Jones (knee), Ben Koyack (knee), Brandon Linder (ankle), Yannick Ngakoe (ankle), Paul Posluszny (neck, shoulder), and Peyton Thompson (ankle) all participated in Friday’s practice and should play today.

Houston Texans Inactives

  • G Jeff Allen (concussion)
  • TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion)
  • S Don Jones (illness)
  • CB Johnathan Joseph (ribs)
  • OLB Whitney Mercilus (back)
  • OLB John Simon (chest)
  • QB Brandon Weeden (coach’s indifference)

Jacksonville Jaguars Inactives

  • QB Brandon Allen (coach’s indifference)
  • C Luke Bowanko (coach’s indifference)
  • WR Allen Hurns (hamstring)
  • DB Josh Johnson (coach’s indifference)
  • G Chris Reed (toe)
  • RB Denard Robinson (ankle)
  • DE Chris Smith (coach’s indifference)

Are any of these inactives particularly concerning? How do you think the absence of Hurns and Robinson will impact Bortles and our ability to hem in their offense (well, more than the Bradley-Bortles combination already does)? How will the lack of Merc and J-Jo impact our team?
