This evening, a familiar foe returns to the friendly turf of NRG Stadium. Andy Dalton grew up in the Houston area, and usually returns to Houston once in awhile so he can lose miserably and cry himself to sleep. We’ll be hoping that tonight is Tom Savage’s night to shine and that the Texans can take control of their own playoff destiny.
While a win tonight is needed (even though, if the Titans beat the Jaguars today, the result of Texans-Bengals doesn’t matter for the purpose of winning the AFC South the Titans lost to the Jaguars, which means a Texans win tonight wins the division!), most Texans fans will be focused on Tom Savage to see what he can do. We’ve had him here for three seasons, and he’s finally going to get the chance to start with our 1s, so this should be an interesting experience for us and for him.
What are you hoping to see this evening? Do you think Savage is fated by the Curse of the Houston Texans QBs and will wither under the lights? Is he our quarterback savior, ready to right all the wrongs done by Brock Osweiler this season? Will Savage show enough to make moving away from Osweiler a viable option going forward? Or will he be hampered by the same WTF playcalling and clock management that’s had such a negative effect on the rest of our offense?
This is your Countdown to Kickoff. Chill here until 15 minutes before the game starts, when the first quarter thread opens. Inactives will post around 6 p.m.
