In his first mock of the 2016 NFL Draft, NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah had your Houston Texans snagging a wide receiver with the 22nd overall pick. His second iteration goes even further afield of conventional thinking.
22. Houston Texans: Taylor Decker (OT--Ohio State)
The Texans could look at a WR here, but Decker is a plug-and-play starter at tackle.
I understand that Duane Brown will be coming off a serious injury and that Derek Newton didn't exactly set the world on fire last season in the first year of his five-year extension, but I cannot fathom the Texans taking a tackle with their first round pick this year. Although I suppose it could happen if said tackle was truly far and away the best player available on Houston's board, it's tough to see the Texans going OT at No. 22, especially in this scenario, which has Corey Coleman, A'Shawn Robinson, and Andrew Billings coming off the board after Houston's selection. Unless you're not sold on any of those guys as difference-makers on the next level, each of them would seem to be more likely candidates for Houston at No. 22 than Taylor Decker.
