2016 NFL Draft Prospects By Position: Centers

New, comments

Today we're looking at centers available in the 2016 NFL Draft.

He's only started for one season and now he's a free agent. Do we bring him back or take a look at who else is available?

Last season, the Texans started Ben Jones at center after the team released longtime center Chris Myers (Myers subsequently retired). Jones, however, was in the fourth and final year of his contract and now our starting center is a free agent. Nothing has come out of Kirby about not wanting Jones back, but nothing has come out of Kirby about wanting him back, either. Therefore, we're taking a look at the centers who are in the 2016 NFL Draft (with the knowledge that y'all will be discussing free agents as well).

Draft Breakdown and CBS have a list of available centers, including hometown kid Mike Matthews (Texas A&M Aggies) and Joey Hunt (TCU Horned Frogs). Alabama's Ryan Kelly is the top-rated center available, but I think most fans here would be irate if we spent a first or second round pick on a center, though we know how important the offensive line is to overall success.

Take a look at the centers available and let us know how you think we should address the position. Are there any names we need to be looking at?
