As we were watching your Houston Texans' "exciting" quarterback play last year, I started wondering: what is the most important position in football?
For me, it's pretty clear quarterback is the single most important position on the field. Only two teams have won Superb Owls with below average QB play, the 1999 Ravens and the 2016 Broncos, so there must be something to my hypothesis. But maybe I'm wrong!
Then, I started wondering about other important positions on the field and if I could rank them. What's next? Left tackle? Defensive end? Right outside linebacker? Cornerback? Long snapper?
For this exercise, please nominate the position you think is most important when it comes to the foosballs. In the next post, we'll vote for the most important position and make suggestions for the next vote, ranking all the positions below.
Because the Texans run a 3-4 base defense, we're going to rank the following positions over the coming weeks:
- Quarterback
- Halfback
- Fullback
- Wide Receiver 1
- Wide Receiver 2
- Wide Receiver 3 (slot)
- Tight End
- Left Tackle
- Left Guard
- Center
- Right Guard
- Right Tackle
- Right Defensive End
- Nose Tackle
- Left Defensive End
- Right Outside Linebacker
- Right Insider Linebacker
- Left Inside Linebacker
- Left Outside Linebacker
- Left Cornerback
- Slot Cornerback
- Free Safety
- Strong Safety
- Right Cornerback
- Long Snapper
- Kick Returner
- Punt Returner
- Punter
- Field Goal Kicker
I'll toss out quarterback as a suggestion for the first vote. I know one of you will say punter, and unless you're a Glitter Kitties fan and this is how you've been conditioned, consider yourself banned. Let it fly in the comments!
