2016 NFL Free Agent Tracker: Tennessee Titans, Ben Jones Agree To Four-Year Contract

And with that, the Houston Texans have lost their starting center. Fans react on Battle Red Blog.

I saw it from Aaron Wilson, but I believe Barry Warner had it first.

Drafted by the Texans in 2012 as the presumed eventual replacement for Chris Myers, Ben Jones actually saw most of his professional snaps at left guard up until this season, when he finally stepped in as Houston's starting center after the team cut Myers last offseason. Jones was a versatile, tough offensive lineman, and he'll be missed. While Jones may not have been one of the best centers in the NFL, he was more than solid and did a good job for the Texans throughout his time in Houston. His departure ensures the team will not enjoy continuity on the offensive line in 2016. That disruption could get markedly worse if the Texans aren't able to agree to a new contract with fellow starter Brandon Brooks.

All the best to Ben Jones as he embarks upon the next chapter in his career. While I won't be able to root for him--such is the fate of anyone who plays for the Titans--I'll remember his time with the Texans fondly and thank him for his steady play.

UPDATE: Aaron Wilson has the terms of Ben Jones' new deal with the Titans.
