Houston Texans Exercise Fifth-Year Option On DeAndre Hopkins' Rookie Contract

Because why wouldn't they? The man is already one of the very best wide receivers on the planet.

Ups.
Ups.

In much the same fashion as they did with J.J. Watt two years ago, your Houston Texans have utilized the fifth-year option afforded to them by DeAndre Hopkins' rookie contract.

That means Nuk is assured of playing in Houston through the 2017 season. Of course, there's very little chance of the team not keeping him around for years after that, as the best is still yet to come for a player who's already established himself as one of the best in the NFL.

Option or not, I expect the team and Hopkins to come to terms on a contract extension sometime before the 2016 regular season starts. He's not going anywhere.
