Adam Schefter tweets that the Tennessee Titans have decided to release a Texans fan favorite.
Titans announced they released QB Zach Mettenberger.

Mettenberger will always hold a special place in the hearts of Texans fans for starting all four (4) games between Tennessee and Houston during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. In those four games, all of which were Texans victories, the man who once vowed to fight Marcus Mariota to the death for the right to be Tennessee's starting quarterback completed 62.7% of his passes for 888 yards, 4 TDs, and 4 INTs.
And who can forget all the virtual ink devoted to the back-and-forth between Mettenberger and J.J. Watt over the years? It started with selfies, moved on to letter jackets, shifted to veiled accusations of Mettenberger being livestock, and seemingly closed with the now ex-Titans signal-caller claiming the whole thing was a big misunderstanding.
If nothing else, Zach Mettenberger added fuel to the fire that is the Texans-Titans rivalry. For that, he shall remain a Titan forever in the minds of Texans fans. As with Mettenberger's former coach, Texans fans are surely sad to see him leaving Nashville. Best of luck to Zach Mettenberger as he looks to continue his career elsewhere.
