We recently found out that our guys are heading to the City by the Bay a few days early to practice with the 49ers ahead of our preseason opener. BSPN's Tania Ganguli now reports that the Texans will be playing hosts to the Saints in the glorious August heat and humidity before we play them in our second preseason game.

On August 20th, the Texans and Saints are due to match up at NRG Stadium for a game from which a whole lot of nothing can be determined. Before that match-up, Bill O'Brien and Sean Payton will get in a few days of having their guys hit someone else for a change. The Saints might be one of the few teams that could come into Houston in August and not pass out from the weather, so that should be enjoyable (to watch, on TV, in the most-air conditioned city in the world).

We've seen from joint practices against the Broncos and Redskins that OB expects his team to bring it every second of every day, and that some teams aren't prepared for that (rumor has it that John Elway noticed the contrast in how practices were conducted by OB and John Fox, which helped usher Fox out the door to the Bears after the season). There are a lot of Saints fans in Houston, so this should give them a chance to root for their team (or being converted over to the Battle Red side once and for all). This particular match-up had been mooted in 2015, as the Saints allegedly pulled out once the Texans were selected for "Hard Knocks" last year.
