We've asked this question before, but now's as good a time as any to check back in on the topic, what with ESPN's Vince Verhei doing the same for every NFL team. Here's who Verhei chose as the answer to that query for your Houston Texans at the moment:

Houston Texans: Outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus

The Texans spent the first overall pick in 2014 on Jadeveon Clowney, hoping he would become their great edge rusher to complement J.J. Watt ... and then Mercilus became that player instead. The 2012 first-rounder will never be a special speed-rushing threat, but he can be a violent edge defender after breaking through with 12.0 sacks in 2015.

There's little room to argue that Mercilus is a solid answer. Might even be the best answer, really.

But where's the fun in unanimity? Are there any other players on the current roster you believe would give Mercilus a run for his money in the race for "Most Underrated" on the Texans?
