The Houston Texans have finally released their first unofficial depth chart ahead of their preseason encounter with the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday.
Obviously there are various things that are subject to change here. Both Derek Newton and Duane Brown are sidelined with injuries, so the tackle spots on Sunday night will most likely be occupied by Chris Clark on the left and Jeff Adams/Kendall Lamm on the right. Nick Novak has apparently won out in the battle over Ka'imi Fairbairn for goal kicking duties, at least for the moment (or Bill O'Brien is giving the veteran the benefit of the doubt right now). Rookie Nick Martin is projected to start at center over free agent signing Tony Bergstrom. Tyler Ervin and Cecil Shorts III will return kicks and punts, respectively. Devon Still is also slated to start over Christian Covington on the defensive line.
What say you, BRB? Does this depth chart confirm most of your suspicions about this years line-up? Are there some things here that you didn't expect? Sound off below and let us know what you think of the current pecking order on the Texans' roster.
