As more information comes out about J.J. Watt’s back injury, Texans fans react to the latest bit of news on Battle Red Blog.

One of the first questions many Texans fans asked when they read or heard about J.J. Watt re-injuring his back was whether this was an injury to the same disk that necessitated surgery two months ago or whether it was to a different part of his back. Ed Werder is reporting that Watt’s latest back injury is in fact to the same disk.

For what it’s worth, Bill O’Brien isn’t confirming Werder’s report.

At this point, all we know is that Watt is heading to Injured Reserve. It stands to reason that he’ll be lost for the season if he has to undergo a second surgical procedure. If Watt doesn’t require surgery, the possibility of him returning at some point during the last quarter of the season remains, though it’s entirely reasonable to question whether the team should shut him down for the year regardless.

What are your thoughts on the matter?  Would you put J.J. Watt back on the field under any circumstances this season?
