We’re just days from the start of the 2016 NFL season, which means it’s already time for our favorite argument catalyst – power rankings! Only five of our eight rankers have submitted their lists for our viewing pleasure so far, but we will get another one tonight when Elliot Harrison reveals his initial 2016 power rankings live on NFL Network. Early returns are rather positive for Bill O’Brien and the Texans, with the average ranking (so far) putting them all the way up among the top 12 teams in the league; apparently we here at BRB aren’t the only ones drinking that Brock Osweiler Kool-Aid. Here are just some of the things that the internet has to say about the Texans heading into opening day.

Boy, people sure are jazzed about Lamar Miller's potential. In real life and the fantasy world! In the NFL Fantasy Live draft, Miller went in the first round. He possesses the ability to make everyone around him better. Veering off the national look (and fantasy perspective), I'd be willing to bet true blue Texans fans are more interested in what Jadeveon Clowney will bring to the table. Clowney's upside is higher than Miller's. Imagine his potential coupled with a healthy J.J. Watt. I'm sure you can. That's why Houston took him No. 1 overall in 2014. In case you were wondering: The first RB off the board in that '14 draft was Bishop Sankey, to the Titans at No. 54. Tennessee just released him.

An offseason filled with changes, smart drafting and free agent acquisitions, the Texans are no longer a team that got lucky a year ago. They’re a serious threat in the AFC South and the Colts should be worried. Brock Osweiler, Lamar Miller and DeAndre Hopkins are going to carry the offense while J.J. Watt, Whitney Mercilus and Jadeveon Clowney will be outstanding up front. |

Now that I’ve seen Brock Osweiler have a positive game in the third preseason week and J.J. Watt looks on track to play Week 1, I can feel good again about moving the Texans up a bit. I like their potential.
